How to calculate your Body-mass Index (BMI)

Easy input form below!

Knowing your current BMI rating is one important factor in maintaining the right level of body fat. Take a quick moment, enter some data below and see where you are today.

Body mass index (BMI) is an approximate measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women. While it's a reliable measure of total body fat, there are some limits. The BMI calculation may overestimate body fat in athletes and others who have a muscular build. It may underestimate body fat in older persons and others who have lost muscle mass. To calculate your BMI, enter your height and weight in the boxes below, and then click "Calculate".

Enter your height in feet: and inches:
NOTE: If you are exactly 5 or 6 feet tall, put a 0 in the inches box.

BMI Categories:
Underweight = <18.5
Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
Overweight = 25-29.9
Obesity = 30 or more

Before making any decision about your personal health ratings, always talk to your doctor to see if you are at an increased risk and if you should lose weight. BMI is only one measure of your health. Body fat percentage, blood pressure, resting heart rate, cholesterol and other measurements are as important as BMI. You should consult your doctor to help evaluate your BMI, waist measurement, and other measurements to determine your overall health.
